Overcoming Barriers to Reading
Overview
Over the course of this programme, teachers will explore key factors which affect pupils’ ability to read fluently. Through exploring the use of available data around reading, teachers will gain a more confident understanding of how to set up and manage appropriate intervention, as well as how to use DARTs to stretch and support pupils.
This programme helps school leaders and practitioners to;
- Develop an understanding of factors which inhibit reading
- Know what data is available and how to use it appropriately
- Support teachers in using DARTS to better support and stretch readers
- Evaluate intervention for reading and how to ensure it is ‘stickable’
