Language Learning in a Primary Setting
This one year programme focuses on languages within a primary setting. Delegates will be supported in the creation of a ‘depth curriculum’ established through ‘information chunking’, which overcomes typical barriers within a Primary setting such as timetable restrictions, progress over time and teachers’ lack of confidence in teaching languages.
The programme is based on the evidence-based practice and research of Rachel Hawkes’ phonic teaching and the internationally renowned language acquisition expert Dr Gianfranco Conti. Primary teachers will learn how to confidently teach all four skills; Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing in fun, interactive and inclusive ways, supported by an easy-to-follow and implement curriculum.
The programme will be led by MFL Teachers from within the President Kennedy Teaching School Alliance and will offer the opportunity for participants to observe Language Learning in action within the secondary classroom.
This programme helps school leaders to;
- Implement thorough and supportive language learning systems in a Primary setting centred on teachers’ individual strengths.
