Driving School Improvement Through the Diagnostic Use of Data Programme

The Driving school improvement through the diagnostic use of data programme is a one –year programme           designed to  support school leaders in the effective establishment and use of data systems to raise standards in schools.  The programme will not only provide practical advice and support in the creation of  internal data systems that track and monitor student progress and attainment, but will also , more importantly, focus on the pro-active and strategic use of this data to improve performance.  The programme will focus on the utilisation of an extensive range of available data centred on standards, T&L, attendance, behaviour, exclusions, staffing and curriculum costing and  will include the analysis of a range of national benchmark data to identify underperformance at both Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5, as well as an exploration of the use of prior attainment data in the transition from KS2 to KS3.  Following the  analysis of data systems in schools, the programme will provide opportunities to deepen   understanding of, and provide practical advice in, the creation of diagnostic systems and processes in response to data.  This will include intervention programmes, performance management, attendance and behaviour reporting, curriculum planning, ‘Raising Achievement & Performance’ processes and target setting.

The programme helps school leaders to;

  •  Identify student achievement and inform target setting

  •  Track student performance more effectively, thus identifying underachieving groups and narrowing achievement gaps

  •  Use data diagnostically to support school self-evaluation

  •  Establish pro-active and strategic systems and processes that drive school improvement
